To start, let’s talk about salt.
Salt cravings usually are caused by a mineral deficiency, as natural salt contains at least 60 different trace minerals. Sadly, the common table salt most of us use is just another ‘white powder’, devoid of nutrients.
Tips for Kicking Salt Cravings
- Eat nutrient dense foods to help your body get the nutrients it needs.
- Choose a high quality multi-vitamin.
- Cook with sea vegetables, which naturally have a salty flavor, aid in digestion, and are full of minerals.
- Swap out your table salt for a more natural unrefined version, which might be pink or grey in color depending on the trace minerals. My favorites:
It is possible to be overweight and malnourished. Your body will continue to crave food until you get the nutrients you need! The same can be said for getting rid of sugar cravings, or being done with chocolate or cheese cravings.
